When I started Dr Dan's auto service in February of 1985 I never dreamed it would grow in to the business I now own. I started with two working bays with car hoists and a small office I didn't have time to use. My goal was to just make a living for my family, which at the time were a wife and a 3-year-old son. In 1986 we added a daughter to the family. By that time the business had all ready grown to four bays another hoist and three employees. We stayed in that size building until 1990 by then I had out run my goals again and decided to add another 4 bays to the building and two more employees. I thought that would be large enough to last forever. So after that building was done I hired a young and smart service writer just out of college. He convinced me to buy a computer system. I fought that all the way because I didn't know how to type let alone run a computer. That turned out to be one of the best things we did for the business. By 1996 I had passed my goals again and was bored, so we built another service building and a used car lot right next door to our first building. This building has 6 service bays a new state of the art Hunter Alignment System and all the latest tools and equipment and three more employees. By now my son is off to college, my daughter is in high school, I am gray, and my wife is doing fine. We have 6 computers, 10 employees, two service writers, and I get to spend some time in my office writing this note on a computer to send out on the web.
