WHO IS REALSPEED AUTOMOTIVE Realspeed Automotive was founded by Dan Carlson to provide the highest quality parts and customer service to Mustang and Ford Enthusiasts. Mr. Carlson spent a decade designing parts for Steeda Autosports before forming Realspeed Automotive in 2004. Over the years he has been quoted as a source for technical information in over 2-dozen magazine articles for Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, 5.0, Superford, Mustang Monthly and Mustang Illustrated, as well as books such as Mustang Chassis, Driveline & Suspension Tuning by HPBooks. Dan has been modifying Mustangs since 1990, when the Fox-body Mustang inspired him to build a daily-driver that would run 11's in the 1/4-mile and still have excellent street manners so that it could be taken on cross country trips from Florida to New Hampshire where he attended college. These days it is not so hard to go 11's in your daily driver with the right parts, but in the early 90s it was pioneering. Racing has always been a passion for Dan, whether it was a little 13 foot boat when he was 10 years old, rallying his friends to take all their cars to the drag strip for a grudge-match, or competing in road races with the Sports Car Club of America. He won championships in karts before moving up to compete in the SCCA, and served as driving instructor for club events at Sebring International raceway and Moroso Motorsports park. He has also made hundreds of passes down the 1/4-mile, testing parts in his own daily-driver and other development vehicles, and won trophies for bracket racing. Today Dan's Mustang runs the quarter mile in 10.4 @ 132 mph and gets 22 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg around town. It is still driven daily, out-handles most other mustangs on the road, and is used for everything from weekend cruising to picking the kids up from school.
