Catalina Island Conservancy Established in 1979, The Institute for Wildlife Studies is a nonprofit organization that is responsible for the conservation of wildlife species, habitats and biodiversity. The organization conducts research on a variety of species, including aardwolf, island fox, mountain lion, pacific fisher, roloway monkey, wolverine and snow leopard. Additionally, it specializes in the conservation of various birds that include bald and imperial eagle, osprey, Mariana swiftlet and sage sparrow.
