Pepe's Service Station in Branford, CT

Sixteen cents a gallon. That was the cost to fill up when Pepe's Service Station--renamed Pepe's Gulf--opened in early 1940. Currently, the gas station and two-bay repair shop is owned and operated by the grandson of the original owner, Tony Pepe. There are four old-fashioned gas pumps in the front of the store.
