Co-founders John and Virgil Roppel first founded Roppel's Radiator on Baxter Avenue in 1947. The two brothers began their business with $40 and a passion for providing quality automotive service and repair. While their families lived over the shop itself, John and Virgil worked around the clock, charging $3.75 per repair whenever a vehicle was in need of service. Day or night, customers would stop by the Baxter Avenue location and honk their horn for immediate, quality service and expertise. For the past 60 years, customers have continued to trust Roppel's with their car care needs. Now Roppel Industries, Inc., the business remains family owned and operated. The second generation to manage the business, Tom and Kevin Roppel oversee four Full Service Auto Care Centers in Louisville, as well as a variety of wholesale/warehouse centers in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee. Along with the third generation of Roppel's family members and a nearly 80 dedicated service technicians, Tom and Kevin Roppel have kept up with the challenges of an evolving automotive industry, while taking part in opportunities to diversify the company.
