Advance Muffler & Brake Co, Inc. Advance is a fourth-generation, family-owned and -operated automobile service and repair business that started around 1914 located in Cambridge, MA. Over the years, as cars evolved and became more complex, the repair business also evolved to keep up with the new technology. Through continuous training and education, we, too, evolved from a pretty basic muffler and brake shop into a multi-faceted, full-service facility. Our new expertise takes us into such diverse areas as: air conditioning, check engine lights, factory-scheduled maintenance, emissions failures, off-track windows, and side-view mirrors. As some of our long-time, loyal customers know, we still maintain and service the older, less technical vehicle that might need just a basic tune-up, brakes, exhaust, shocks, struts, or suspension repair. We have been a State Registered Inspection Station since the 1960's, and have received a consistent five-star approval rating from the Registry of Motor Vehicles for emissions repairs. Our technicians are ASE Certified and must maintain their education in order to periodically re-certify.
