In 1969 Ken Beck purchased Colonel Motors in downtown Pierre. Four years later a brand new store was built and the dealership was moved to 500 S. Grant. Ken started off with the Pontiac, Chevrolet & Cadillac car lines. Throughout the years, Beck Motor Company has had a number of additional franchises including Mazda, Geo and Oldsmobile. Today, Ken's sons Trace & Steve run the family business. When people say that Beck Motor Company is a family business, they may be referring to the Beck family but more than likely, they are referring to the family atmosphere that customers feel when dealing with the top notch staff of over 50 employees.
